What The World Needs Now, Is Love

- In February, I received an e-mail inquiry from Laynee. Her wedding was set for May 16, 2020 and we set up a trial for April. Then came the big ugly storm of Miss Rona. We had to post pone and then ultimately cancel her trial because Cosmetologists were ordered closed by the Governor until at least April 30th.April quickly came and went… the closure was extended. April 27th I received an email from Laynee, she asked if things were okay to open May 15th, was I going to be comfortable doing her makeup the very next day. My response? If you’re still on, I’m still in.

- And while her plans for a big glam affair were minimized to an intimate family gathering.. Laynee was not about to de-glam her makeup look. We went with bold warm smokey eyes, a fierce set of false lashes, contour for the gods, and don’t forget the glitter accent in the inner corners to really make it all pop. My work was honestly so easy, Laynee gave me such a great canvas to work with (aka she has a good face LOL).While I was set up doing the bride’s makeup, her bridal party sat near and glammed up themselves. Being in the middle of a handful of women getting ready for a big event, suddenly, for that moment, I forgot all about the pandemic. I was so beyond happy to have a sliver of “normal” again.

This is normal for most and a good business practice but, the reason I do it may be a bit different. I will shamelessly admit that I stalk all the vendors social media pages to get bits and pieces of what the event becomes.Hair & Makeup vendors are one of the last to actually see how the event actually came together, many times having to wait and hope the Photographer shares the gallery. We get to be there in the beginning stages. Witnessing the floral delivery, the photographer taking the detail shots, the dress being taken out of the garment bag, often times in a different location than the actually ceremony or reception.

- When I tell you that my jaw literally hit the floor seeing the sneak peeks of Laynee & Sam’s affair… I mean, picture a certain cartoon rabbit laying eyes on his dream rabbit girlfriend, cause that’s literally what I did.Megan Taylor of Taylored Company, shared the absolute most stunning gallery I have yet to see. The flowers were from Lavender Blue Floral Artistry and you would you believe me when I tell you they were silk?! Yup, another detail that Covid tried to ruin. Amid all the chaos the virus was causing, it was no secret shipping was delayed for almost everything. When dealing with fresh bouquets for a bride, the last thing you want to chance is a not so beautiful bloom. All I can say is that it clearly pays to trust your vendors, because they hit this one out of the park!This wedding is hands down, one of the top tier events that I am not only honored to have been apart of, but one that I will absolutely never forget!
