It’s 2020. This year has been one for the books (LITERALLY, lol) But instead of looking at 2020 as a problematic year… I choose to look at it as the year we shake shit up. It’s time to re-write how things are done, start new traditions. Let’s take old taboo topics & make them trendy & fresh. Starting with Bridal Boudoir…
Boudoir started in the 1920’s. During this time nudity in photographs was illegal but, photographers continued to create masterpieces. Throughout the following decades, it evolved. In the 1940’s boudoir became centered around Pin-up girls & they began incorporating props. And again in the 1970’s boudoir photography evolved, making a place for itself in the “art world” & becoming more accepted amongst society. Since then, Boudoir photography has continued to grow, and the taboo it once was is now a thing of the past.
What once was a sexy bedroom secret gift for your significant other is now an empowering, uplifting, body positive movement for brides all across the world. It’s another reason to have your hair & makeup done, show off your dress & accessories, incorporate your bouquet. With the right team of vendors, your boudoir shoot can be more than just steamy photos for your spouses eyes only. Let’s be honest, on your wedding day you are going to be preoccupied with finalizing details, the typical nerves, and just overall wrapped up in the moment. Setting up a day before hand to capture those intimate moments pre “ceremony” is just one less thing to stress about on your actual day of.
Speaking of vendors.. this styled shoot was a rockstar line up. When Lynda of Lavender Blue Floral asked me to be a part of this project.. I’m pretty sure I said yes before she even finished asking me LOL.
Kourtney of Kourtney’s Klick Photography captured these images at The Barnum Factory and it’s the perfect touch of rustic to the boho glam vibe Lynda created. Not a single detail was missed.
I hope you consider having a bridal boudoir session before your big day & that this blog may have swayed you to make the call to your photographer to get something set up. I think weddings are a very special time in someones life & I just can’t imagine not seizing the moments.
As always, enjoy some of my favorite shots from this gallery & make sure to check out all the vendors tagged below!
