Choosing The Best Bridal Hairstyle

Choosing a bridal hairstyle for your wedding day an be an overwhelming task. You scroll through Pinterest and the next thing you know you’ve picked 6 totally different styles and really haven’t narrowed down much of anything. So how do you figure out what’s really right for you? Here’s some tips to consider when choosing your bridal hairstyle from a wedding hair and makeup specialist.

1. Your Dress

Your hairstyle shouldn’t compete with your dress it should compliment it. Whether your dress is strapless, off the shoulder, boat (bateau), v-neck, high neck or has the most dramatic back design.. there’s a style out there to compliment it. For example- a strapless dress neckline it the most versatile and there really isn’t much you can’t do. However, if your dress has a boat neck line, an updo is going to be best to help showcase the details.

2. The Theme Of Your Wedding

Are you having a chic glamorous affair or are you aiming for a bold boho occasion? This is an important thing to keep in mind when considering hairstyles. As the bride, you are the center of attention so the right hairstyle will really tie your theme together. For a chic glam affair, consider a timeless chignon. More of a bold boho bride? Consider a full braid with effortless curls! Check my portfolio for some inspo!

3. Your Hair’s Texture & Length

While extensions are a great addition to any style, they can only provide so much support. When looking through bridal hairstyle inspiration photos, look at the hair in the photo. Look for styles that have similar hair texture, length, color, and cuts! If you have bangs try searching “bridal hairstyle with bangs” or if you have red hair search “updo style for red hair” Being specific with your search subjects will give you the best results.

4. Think Ahead 20 Years!

You are creating a memory and you want to be happy with your decision down the road. Your look should be timeless, not trendy. Think about when you show your kids or grandchildren photos of these moments, will you look back and have regret or will you look back and feel absolutely beautiful?
